Size tip
Your design is scaled to fit within your chosen size. The diagram above shows how size is measured — from cut edge to cut edge, not including bleed. When in doubt, go one size up.
Your printer is not a magician.
We print what you give us. Seriously — if the file is blurry, pixelated, or low-resolution, the sticker is going to be blurry, pixelated, and low-resolution. Our proofing process will catch issues and we will flag them before anything goes to print, but we cannot conjure detail that isn't in the source file. Here is how to give us something we can work with.
Vector file (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF)
Vector art is built from math, not pixels — it scales to any size without losing a single edge. If your logo lives in Illustrator or is saved as a clean SVG or PDF, you are already winning. This is the gold standard for sticker artwork. All are supported by the builder.
300 DPI raster at final print size
PNG, JPG, and GIF are all accepted by the builder (max 50 MB). If you are using one of these, it needs to be 300 DPI at the actual size you want printed — not 300 DPI at postage-stamp size. Set up your canvas at the print dimensions, 300 DPI, and place your art at full size.
The 100% monitor test
Open your file. Zoom to 100% actual pixels. That is roughly what it is going to look like printed at that size. If it looks crisp and sharp on your screen at 100%, it will print crisp and sharp. If it looks soft or blurry, your printer is not going to fix it.
Images ripped from a website
Screen images are typically 72–96 DPI — designed for monitors, not printers. Saving your logo from your website or screenshotting it gives us a fraction of the data we need to print cleanly. It is going to look bad. Please send us the actual source file.
Upsizing a small image
Stretching a 2-inch image to print at 6 inches does not add pixels — it just makes each existing pixel bigger. Photoshop can interpolate, but it is guessing. If the original file is small, the large print will be soft. The data has to be there from the start.
"My phone photo should be fine"
Phone cameras shoot high megapixel images, but that does not mean they are print-ready at sticker dimensions. Camera JPGs are compressed, and anything with fine text, intricate lines, or small detail often cannot survive the compression and color shift to vinyl print. Check it at 100%.
If it looks blurry on your screen at actual print size, it is going to look blurry on vinyl. No amount of resolution change at our end fixes bad source data. We will flag the problem in your proof and work with you, but we cannot print detail that isn't in the file — and we would rather tell you upfront than ship something you're unhappy with.
Not sure if your file is print-ready? Send it to us before you order — we'll take a look.
Email us your fileCommon questions
What vinyl and laminate are used?
Premium die-cut stickers are printed on 3 mil white vinyl and finished with a laminate coating in your choice of gloss or matte. Both finishes are waterproof, UV-resistant, and scratch-resistant — rated for outdoor use.
Gloss vs matte — which should I choose?
Gloss is high-shine and makes colors pop — great for bold logos, photos, and anything you want to stand out. Matte is soft and non-reflective — ideal for minimal or luxury designs. Both are equally durable. Most customers choose gloss for general brand stickers and matte for a premium or editorial look.
Are they waterproof and safe to use outdoors?
Yes. The vinyl and laminate are both waterproof and UV-resistant. They hold up on water bottles, bumpers, outdoor equipment, and product packaging. Colors stay vibrant and edges stay clean.
What file format should I use for artwork?
The Sticker Builder accepts PNG, JPG, GIF, SVG, PDF, AI, and EPS files up to 50 MB. Vector formats (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) are ideal — they scale to any size without quality loss. If you are using a raster file (PNG, JPG, GIF), it needs to be 300 DPI at the actual print size. Files pulled from websites or screenshots are typically 72 DPI and will print blurry. See the artwork guide above for the full breakdown.
What if my artwork is low resolution?
The builder previews your artwork on the sticker shape — what you see there is what prints. If it looks soft or blurry in the preview, that is your answer. Start with a better file: vector (AI, EPS, SVG) or a PNG/JPG at 300 DPI at final print size. Not sure if your file is ready? Email it to info@thestickery.com before ordering and we will take a look.
Can I see a proof before printing?
Yes — the Sticker Builder shows you a digital proof before you reach checkout. You review and approve it right inside the builder. Once your order is placed it goes straight to our production team, ready to print. There is no separate proof email to wait on — you have already approved it.
How long until my order ships?
Production is 2–4 business days from when your order is placed. Because your proof is approved at checkout, your order goes straight into our print queue — no delays waiting on approval. Once shipped, you will get a tracking email. Standard shipping is free; rush options are available at checkout.
Is rush production available?
Yes. A rush option is available at checkout to speed up production. Expedited shipping can also be selected. If you have a hard deadline, contact us and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum on most products. Order as few or as many as you need. Per-unit pricing improves at higher quantities — the builder shows live pricing as you adjust.
Can I reorder a previous design?
Yes. For repeat orders, email us at info@thestickery.com with your order number or design name. We keep files on record and can pull up previous specs quickly to make reordering easy.
